This former federal fish hatchery was the first federal hatchery in the nation. It offers rainbow trout fishing in a pond on the premises. The hatchery also offers pond stocking.
Rated as one of best golf courses in Virginia by Golf Digest, this full scale, public 18 hole, par 72 golf course has beautiful mountain views and plush grounds. The course includes a driving range, practice greens, snack bar, and discount golf shop.
Almost five miles in length, this moderately difficult trail is open-ended, so it is necessary to backtrack or arrange for pickup. Nice views and great exercise await you at this trail.

This short trail hike leaves Big Walker Lookout parking lot and leads to a large rock outcrop. Monster Rock is an outstanding vista of the Stony Fork watershed which includes beautiful Bland County farmscapes and historic Garden Mountain to the north.
Nestled within the Shot Tower Historical Park, the Jackson Ferry Shot Tower is a shot tower that was utilized to manufacture lead shots to load firearms. Included in the National Register of Historic Places, this landmark can be accessed by tourists along with the surrounding grounds.
