Howie Mandel is a stand-up comedian, actor and media personality from from Toronto, Canada who is perhaps best known these days as the host of NBC's hit game show Deal or No Deal. However, Mandel's career in the public spotlight spans decades, with his six-year run as Dr. Wayne Fiscus on the hit 1980s soap opera St. Elsewhere having catapulted the young actor into national stardom. Following this career-making role, Mandel would subordinate his stand-up career throughout much of the 1990s to pursue lucrative roles on television, particularly in voice-over work for animated shows. Following some years where his time in the comedy spotlight seemed to be coming to an end, Mandel was able to bounce back and successfully revive his career as a celebrated television personality and stand-up comedian.

After adopting his chosen moniker in the early 1990s and honing his distinctive style, he dropped his first albumMy Fro-losophy, in 1999. With the help of producer Tim Ramenofsky, he followed the album up with the LP, Because I Got High, which spawned the critically and commercially acclaimed title track. After a year of circulated around the internet, "Because I Got High" became an international hit and earned Afroman a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance in 2002. He has since continued to perform and release new material, including 2012's Marijuana Music.
