    »Bai-Tong Restaurant

Fans of Thai food that find themselves near the airport should stop by this restaurant. If you can judge the quality of a restaurant by the number of its faithful patrons, then this is one of the best of its kind around. The casual, '60s drive-in building gives the restaurant a relaxed atmosphere. The food is authentic Thai, and if you are not familiar with the dishes there are color photos to help you make your decision. Meat-eaters and vegetarians alike will be happy with the selections. Tofu can be added as a replacement for meat in any of the dishes. The marinated chicken is addictive, as is the green vegetable curry.

    »Red House

The charmingly old (but not ancient) building that houses Red House reeks of coziness almost as soon as you enter. A warmly-lit dining room, deep wooden hues on the floor and shelves stacked with wine and beer occupying pretty much every inch of the wall space make for interesting interiors and gives off strangely relaxing vibe. The green tables with blue-cushioned chairs add a contrasting dash of coolness to the warm hues in the room. The serene outdoor patio sees a perennial bustle, and is an excellent choice in summer months. The restaurant is renowned for it's tapas selection, which though not extensive, is varied when it comes to the flavors and combinations. Apart from this, there is also a selection of salads and entrees. The wine selection is astoundingly large, with close to 700 varieties and 20 available by the glass. Equally spectacular is the choice of beer with 500 on offer and seven on tap. Selections from the entire list are available for purchase. Check website for more.

The interiors, though updated to modern standards makes no effort to let go of its past with blown up historic photographs adorning pretty much every wall. Subdued lighting sets a great mood for intimate dinners. The inspired steak menu, with choices in beef, pork, chicken and seafood will please even the most discerning of steak lovers. »Misoya Sushi

Misoya is hidden away in a tiny strip mall. The only indication of the restaurant from the road is a sandwich board sign that says “Sushi” with an arrow. But despite its modern outward appearance, Misoya is a treat to behold, nicely decorated and upscale-looking inside. Plus, the food here makes it worth the 20-minute trip north of Seattle. Their expertly crafted, extremely fresh sushi is simply perfection. Tightly rolled and perfectly spiced and seasoned, each bite is to be savored. If you decide to stray from their heavenly sushi, Misoya also offers a wide range of teriyaki, katsu, stir-fry, and noodle dishes. - Katie Kinney

    »Maya's

Justly or not, South Seattle does not enjoy the best of reputations. As a result, many of its treasures go unnoticed. Perhaps that's the reason this lovely Mexican restaurant is visited most often by its neighbors. Whatever the reason, it certainly deserves to be better known. There are no velvet Elvises on these walls, but they wouldn't make much difference. The matadors and rose-in-the-hair maidens come close enough. Portions are large. The servers are friendly, and while the menu is mostly limited to the standard tacos, burritos and enchiladas, the entrees are well prepared.
