»Charlie Mars

April 18, 2015 7:00 PM

Mississippi singer/songwriter Charlie Mars sings acoustic-led pop music, combining southern rock and blues elements. Mars ditched his musical career at one point to recover from alcohol and drug addiction in Sweden where he lived on a house boat and wrote music. Upon returning to the US, Mars has pursued a more independently-driven career as opposed to the more commercial one that he was leading before his trip to Sweden. Mars' music also employs some hip-hop and electronic sounds, particularly on his 2009 album Like A Bird, Like A Plane.
