The Glenn Miller Orchestra
Infinity Hall NorfolkApril 26, 2015 1:30 PM
20 Greenwoods Road West
Norfolk, CT 06058
In the late 1930s and early 1940s Glenn Miller pretty much wrote the book on big band swing music. His iconic staples like "In the Mood" and "Moonlight Serenade" helped propel him to become one of the biggest musical sensations of his generation. Unfortunately, Miller met his demise while en route to entertain US troops in France during WWII, when his plane disappeared into the English Channel. The prolific musician's songs still live on, though, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra (sans the group's eponymous band leader) still carries on and does a dang good job of recreating the memorable big band tunes that were so popular during the glory days of yesteryear.

Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion
Infinity Hall NorfolkApril 26, 2015 7:30 PM
20 Greenwoods Road West
Norfolk, CT 06058
Country-folk singer/songwriter Sarah Lee Gutherie began creating music with blues rock musician Johnny Irion in 2000 and the two artists easily married their sounds to create a soft, country rock style. The husband-wife pair released its debut studio album, Exploration, in 1994 and have continued to release refined, folky records before finding its edge in 2013, with album Wassaic Way. With louder guitars, richer soundscapes and the production prowess of Wilco's Jeff Tweedy and Patrick Sansone, the record moved Sarah Lee Gutherie and Johnny Irion from a folk duo safe haven to the rougher, tougher realm of alternative country.
