Lightning Bolt
The Loving TouchApril 18, 2015
22634 Woodward Avenue
Ferndale, MI 48220
The Rhode Island-based noise rock duo Lighting Bolt creates extremely heavy noise music by combining antagonized drum beats with writhing bass crunches. Though it may be hard to discern any sort of melody or tempo from the band's wall of sound, Lightning Bolt's music is actually a very calculated combination of unrelenting distorted screaming, harrowing bass shredding and crackling snare hits. Since 1994 and throughout six studio albums including its eponymous 1999 effort and 2012's Oblivion Hunter, Lighting Bolt has built a reputation based on its aggressive guerrilla-styled shows, often opting to play on the ground among its crowd instead of on a stage.

Ferndale, MI 48220
Bred in the tight-knit punk community in Ottawa, Canada, Metz has been creating an experimental brand of punk-influenced garage rock since its formation in the mid-2000s. Currently based in Toronto, the three-piece employs grunge and noise elements into its sound, resulting in a no-frills noise rock that gets straight to the point. Metz released its eponymous debut album in 2012 to much laudation from critics and connoisseurs of unpolished, lo-fi music.
