The Akoo/Rosemont Theatre is one of the most popular theatrical venues in the city. It is a modern theater with two tiers and comfortable seats. The Maywood Park Racetrack is a premier horse racing track located in central Melrose Park that attracts thousands of visitors each year. This suburban center was added to the University campus more than 20 years ago as a performance and activity space for such events as lectures, concerts, fine arts and a host of other cultural events. Now, regularly staged events include piano recitals, speakers, plays and performances by the Chicago Sinfonietta, attended by students, faculty and nearby residents. Free parking is available.

Kobelinski Theater, formally called the Gateway Theater, was originally a movie theater with an atmospheric-style seating arrangement and currently has a thrust stage. A beautifully renovated 1924 Spanish style movie theatre that features five auditoriums with Dolby Digital Sound. First run films are featured here and a Baby Barton pipe organ is played on Friday and Saturday evenings.
