Crime and drinking don't mix -- unless it's at the totally inventive "Hitch Cocktails". Each show, the actors will take suggestions from the audience to craft a thriller in the style of the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. It's a night chock-full of murder, car chases, beautiful women and exciting music. And, since this is high-class crime, there's a real wet bar onstage, of which the actors are forced to partake throughout the performance -- sure to make any chase across Mount Rushmore all the more precarious. With a live jazz band providing the soundtrack and parlor games for the audience, "Hitch Cocktails" will have everyone in on the action.
Trey Anastasio is one of the more revered guitarist of his generation. His formidable prowess on the instrumentation lies in his adherence to technicality, but also on shear feel and intuitiveness. The Vermont-born musician rose to prominence in the 1990s with the jam band Phish; although he has occasionally struck out to indulge his solo sensibilities.
Your whole family will enjoy this heartwarming story of the first Christmas Tree Ship and the people who risked their lives to fill Chicago with the holiday spirit. Based on the shipwrecked Rouse Simmons, "The Christmas Schooner" is a powerful, moving story with an exquisite score by Chicago favorites John Reeger (book) and Julie Shannon (music and lyrics). The musical has entertained audiences for hundreds of productions, including a 12-year run at Chicago's Bailiwick Repertory Theatre. Set in the late 19th century, this holiday musical tells the song and dance-filled story of a close-knit group of German immigrants who receive a message from a Chicago-based cousin lamenting the lack of traditional Christmas trees. A shipping captain and his crew then undertake a risky late-season journey across the notoriously violent Lake Michigan to deliver the precious timber to the city, carrying with them a full cargo of holiday hope and joy.
