    All My Sons
    Raven Theatre Company-East StageOctober 23, 2014 7:30 PM
    6157 North Clark Street
    Chicago, IL 60660
Some 65 years after it was first produced, Arthur Miller's American tragedy about the Keller family -- entrepreneur father, devoted mother, war-hero sons -- and their fall from grace still grips audiences. Set immediately following World War II, the play tells the story of one day and a night in which past secrets surface and threaten to shake the entire Keller clan to its core. This deeply engaging tale of morality and consciousness explores the bonds of family and social responsibility as two very different generations seek to heal and rebuild. Inspired by a true story, "All My Sons" won two Tony Awards and the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for the Best American Play of 1947. This intense drama, which raises questions of morality and the limits of family ties, opens Raven's 2014-2015 season.

    Whatever We Want

Forget Santa Claus, your sister (the saying goes) "really" knows if you've been bad or good. But when a divorce separates two young sisters, it's not so easy to keep such close tabs -- or score, depending on your perspective. That's the premise of "Whatever We Want", the new play by Megan Johns that concludes the acclaimed, inaugural season of Vivarium Theatre. Stretching over the course of 15 years, the play chronicles the sisters' struggle to maintain their relationship despite distance and time. Johns artfully explores the inevitable reconciliation between the mental image, often lovingly tended, of a loved one... and the (often very different) reality. Humor infuses this insightful world premiere at the Heartland Studio.

    Jane Eyre
    Lifeline TheatreOctober 23, 2014 7:30 PM
    6912 North Glenwood Avenue
    Chicago, IL 60626
Even the Supernanny could be excused for skipping the governess gig at Thornfield Hall. The house is a gloomy gothic pile, the other servants are strange and the boss ... well, let's just say Mr. Rochester has other things on his mind. But the orphaned and impoverished Jane Eyre has little choice but to take the job, thereby setting into motion not only one of the greatest romances of English literature, but a horror story that would spook Stephen King. Yet even as Jane is tested by flames of every sort -- the fire of passion, the fire of guilt, "actual" fire -- she emerges intact, independent and utterly indomitable. Now Dorothy Milne directs this stage adaptation of the beloved 1847 novel by Charlotte Brontë at Lifeline Theatre.
