»88.5 Wrur Welcomes St. Vincent W/jenny Hval

March 05, 2015 8:00 PM

After serving as a hired gun as a touring guitarist with Sufjan Stevens and the Polyphonic Spree, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Annie Clarke assembled her own supporting cast under the moniker St. Vincent in 2006. She released her first album,Marry Me, in 2007 and delivered an indie pop/art rock sound with intricate arrangements and a healthy dose of her instrument of choice, the electric guitar. St. Vincent's follow up record,Actor, demonstrated a darker approach, with more complex emotions than her debut, offering beautiful juxtaposition between violent, chaotic rhythms and the natural delicacy of her voice.

»WWE Live Road To Wrestlemania

March 06, 2015 7:30 PM

During the early 20th century wresting was looked at as a serious sport with classical connections to Olympic competitions. This all changed, though, with the rise of World Wrestling Entertainment during the 80s. Rising to prominence under the guidance of CEO Vince McMahon, WWE presented wrestling as less of a sport and more of a staged entertainment event with colorful characters and elaborately planned title matches. Battles between WWE wrestlers are typically held in stadiums, packed with fervent fans, and are televised to audiences around the country. Theatrics and even pyrotechnics are employed to an ostentatious degree but all the lively visuals combine to make for some extremely engaging, exaggerated wrestling performances that fans continue to thrive on.
