One of the premier higher educational institutions in Kentucky, the Eastern Kentucky University has been providing education to the state, and the region, since 1874. The university was opened as the Central University, but due to an expanding campus, it was re-named the Eastern Kentucky University in 1906, and since then has held a high position in the education sphere. The monumental site of White Hall was constructed in the year 1798. It comprehensively encompasses a land cover of 13.6 acres (5.5 hectares). It stood as a home to the prominent Cassius Marcellus Clay, who was a politician, soldier and an anti-slavery newspaper publisher. The Hall is predominantly a 44-room mansion. The structure gracefully traces the Italianate and the Georgian styles of architecture. The site has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the year 1971.

Daniel Boone (1734-1820), known for his role in the exploring and settling of the Kentucky frontier decided that the settlement of Boonesborough had become far too crowded. In December 1779, Boone and his family established Boone's Station.
Confederate Memorial in Nicholasville is a historic statue located in Jessamine County, Kentucky. The memorial consist of a 11-foot (3.4-meter) granite pedestal and seven-foot (2.1-meter) bronze statue of a soldier with a knapsack and hat. It was built in 1896, and 3500 spectators came to witness the occasion of its dedication. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 17, 1997.
This legendary scenic beauty of Eastern Kentucky is embodied in this huge national area that covers 672,000 acres in 21 counties. Many recreational opportunities are available. Cave Run Lake and Laurel River Lake are popular attractions on the forest. Other special areas include the Red River Gorge Geological Area, Natural Arch Scenic Area, Clifty Wilderness, Beaver Creek Wilderness, and five wildlife management areas.
The Gov. James A. Clark Mansion in Winchester, Kentucky is also known as Clark Mansion and Holly Rood. This historic mansion has been the residence of James Clark, the 12th Governor of Kentucky. The mansion was built using red bricks in Georgian and Federal style architecture and also features some vintage furniture. The mansion and its yard are open for tours as well as private events like weddings.
Operated and controlled by the Lexington Ice Center and Sports Complex, this miniature Golf course is biblical in its theme. Having a tomb, this golf course has 3 courses, Old Testament, New Testament and Miracles, of 18 holes each. Each of these holes have illustrations of Noah's Ark, the plagues of Egypt, Daniel and the lion's den, among others. There are also little slabs engraved with Bible stories. Visitors here can enjoy their favorite game, and also listen to some Christian Rock music.
This beautiful Greek revival home was built in 1847 by Joseph Bryan, a grandnephew of Daniel Boone. Tours of Waveland focus on the Bryan family and life on a 19th-century Kentucky plantation.
