    »August Alsina

    September 03, 2014 8:00 PM

August Alsina is a New Orleans native who blends R&B and hip-hop into his own soulful sound. Enduring a childhood plagued by drugs and alcohol, he used music as a coping mechanism and began to stir attention with his Youtube video uploads. His cover of Lyfe Jennings "Hypothetically"earned millions of views in just over a month, but real life tragedies diverted Alsina's musical journey. Following his father's fatal overdose and his brother's death by gunfire, he relocated to Atlanta and hunkered down to focus on his music. Alsina released a series of emotionally driven mixtapes before signing to Def Jam records and dropping his debut studio album Downtown: Life Under the Gun, in 2014.

Wick-It the Instigator, who also is known by the moniker DJ Wickit, is an electronic producer and DJ from Nashville, Tennessee who is best known for his mash-ups and remixes of well known pop songs. Gaining popularity amid the EDM explosion of the late-2010s, he has built a reputation for adding layers of nuanced, electronic bombasity to songs to create dance-friendly tracks that are perfectly at home at late night clubs. Though he has yet to achieve massive crossover success, Wick-It the Instigator has nevertheless remained an interesting figure of the burgeoning electronic scene whose remixes and mash-ups are respected my EDM connoisseurs.

    »David Allan Coe

    September 05, 2014 9:00 PM

David Allan Coe is a country singer who helped create the outlaw country scene in the United States in the 70s and 80s. His rough style and sometimes controversial lyrics have won him large numbers of fans and detractors alike. He's penned a few well-known hits, such as "Take This Job and Shove It," (recorded by Johny Paycheck) and his more than 20 albums released since 1969 have occasionally hit the rock and country charts. Due to lyrics that many listeners have deemed to be overly crude, racist or sexist, Coe's music appeals a bit less to the mainstream than some of his contemporaries such as, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Coe was featured in "Heartworn Highways," a film that helped define the outlaw country moment.

    »Trombone Shorty

    September 05, 2014 8:00 PM

Troy Andrews (aka Trombone Shorty) is a trombone and trumpet player from the New Orleans area who is known for his high-energy, quirky take on the jazz genre. From reworked versions of standards such as "When the Saints Go Marching In," to unlikely covers of rock and pop songs like AC/DC's "Back in Black" and Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On," he revels in bringing a bit of firecracker irreverence to what can often be a stuffy genre. Andrews attempts to make the audience feel like a part of the show by offering up call-and-response group vocals and encouraging everyone to clap and dance along. His feel-good style has gained prominence over recent years and in 2005, Andrews became a member of Lenny Kravitz's recording and performing horn section.
