    »The Voice

    July 26, 2014 7:30 PM

Growing up in a musical family, Dia Frampton's father was a DJ in South Korea before he moved to the US. Fittingly, two of his daughters took up music themselves, with Dia on vocals and her sister Meg on the guitar. Soon the two girls formed a pop-punk band, appropriately titled Meg & Dia, which garnered enough attention on MySpace to win it the "Best MySpace Band" slot on Warped Tour in 2006. Though the duo found a good deal of success, Meg & Dia struggled with record labels, finally resulting in the band being dropped from Warner Brothers. Since then Dia Frampton branched off on her own and performs more folk-pop work. Her live shows generally include a heaping helping of cover songs, from the likes of Adele to Taylor Swift to Mumford and Sons.

    »Go Gos

    July 26, 2014 8:00 PM

The Go-Go's is a pop rock band from Los Angeles that made history for being the first all-female bandto top the album charts with its own songs and by playing its own instruments.Formed in 1978, the band was originally a hard-lined punk band with strong ties to the Southern Californian punk community, before opting to reinvent its sound with a distinctively radio friendly new wave style. The group released its debut LP, Beauty and the Beat, in 1981 and the album went on to perform extremely well--helping establishing the group as one of the more poplar acts of its generation. After being pushed to the very limits of commercial success, band tensions reached a broiling point and forced the group to break up in 1985. However, the allure of playing its hits proved too great to resist and the band has since returned and toured several times over, playing its well-known 1980s songs to nostalgically-minded audiences.

Ginuwine was one of the poster children of the hip-hop soul movement that emerged out of the 90s. His smooth voice combined with crisp studio production are responsible for giving his music a sultry quality. While suffering from severe depression after his father comitted suicide and his mother died of cancer in 2000, Ginuwine turned again to music, collaborating with other artists on their albums, releasing another album of his own and even starring in a couple films. Though many musicians try to imitate the Ginuwine sound, few - if any - succeed.

»King Buzzo (From The Melvins) Featuring Emma Ruth Rundle

    July 31, 2014 9:00 PM

Emma Ruth Rundle is a singer songwriter and musician who is known for experimenting with droning electronic textures and folk music. Though she rose to recognition for her work as the guitarist of Red Sparowes and the vocalist and guitarist of Marriages and The Nocturnes, she struck her solo career with the release of her debut record Electric Guitar One, in 2014. The EP exposed her ambient folk for the first time and established her as an artist in her own right. Rundle dropped her first full-length LP, titled Some Heavy Ocean, later the same year and subsequently captured an international audience with her experimental compositions and gentle vocals.

    August 02, 2014 8:00 PM

North Carolina-based Daughtry is the project of American Idol winner Chris Daughtry. Known for his particularly memorable voice and unique songwriting, Daughtry has done quite a bit in a short amount of time. Having only released two albums as of early 2011 since the 2006 self-titled debut, Daughtry and his crew have spent the majority of their time touring throughout the country and world. There is no question that Daughtry's mastery of the pop-friendly alternative rock song has influenced many of the alt-rock success stories of today's current bands within the genre.
