    »Kenny Loggins

    October 27, 2014 7:30 PM

Kenny Loggins is a soft pop-rock singer/songwriter from Everett, Washington whose lasting career in the music industry was almost single-handedly responsible for the popularization of the adult contemporary genre of pop music. Loggins first rose to prominence along with his songwriting partner Jim Messina in the 1970s as the celebrated soft rock duo Loggins and Messina. Following the production of several albums and singles such as "House on Pooh Corner" and "Danny's Song," songs which have since become pop standards, Loggins embarked upon a successful solo career that would last the singer/songwriter the following three decades and counting. Loggins' solo career is marked with a strong commercial bent that, along with the work of collaborator Michael MacDonald, would go on to develop adult contemporary into one of the music industry's most commercially successful genres.

Ricky Skaggs started playing mandolin at the age of five. By the age of six, he was playing with Bill Monroe, the inventor of bluegrass; by age seven, he was playing with famed talents Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. Going on to have a full career in the bluegrass genre, Skaggs would also go on to collaborate with musicians like Jack White, Phish and Bruce Hornsby, adding to his cross-over appeal. Managing to steadily release albums of interesting bluegrass and assorted cross-over material along the years, Skaggs is also a frequent tourer, which has helped build the Kentucky-born musician a reputation as one of the best and hardest working mandolin players in America.

    November 22, 2014 7:30 PM

The Diplomats, also more widely known as Dipset is a hip-hop group based in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City that was founded in 1997 by hip-hop artists Cam'ron and Jim Jones. The group attained a huge amount of popularity at the beginning of the 2000s, partly due to the massively popular album releases of Dipset's illustrious members, but also as the result of the group's release of one of its most popular singles, "Dipset Anthem" in 2003. Following a few years of artistic disputes between the group's members, followed by a brief hiatus, The Diplomats reunited in 2010, much to the satisfaction of fans who are looking forward to what the hip-hop crew has in store for them next.
