    »S. Carey

    September 18, 2014

Sean Carey first established himself in the music scene as the drummer and backup vocalist for indie folk project Bon Iver. After the successful reception and subsequent tours of that group's 2008 album, For Emma, Forever Ago, Carey was afforded the opportunity to branch off on his own. His debut solo album, All We Grow, retains some of the chilly, haunting nature and sparse production of Bon Iver - in fact, his high falsetto even sounds a lot like front man Justin Vernon's. But Carey's songs also reveal a deep love for jazz, rich harmonies and 70s singer/songwriter pop, making his individual efforts diverse and strong enough to stand on their own.

    »The Head and The Heart

    September 21, 2014 7:00 PM

Seattle sextet The Head and the Heart marry indie folk arrangements with a songwriting aesthetic that's located somewhere halfway between Laurel Canyon and the shores of the British Invasion. While the group's shimmery, three-part harmonies put it squarely in the "beard rock" pack that's largely based out the Pacific Northwest, The Head and The Heart sets itself apart with the consistently inventive stylistic left turns its songs make on a very regular basis.

»Joey Cape (Lagwagon) w/ Chris Cresswell (flatliners) & Brian Wahlstrom

    September 30, 2014 8:00 PM

Formed in Santa Barbara, California, Lagwagon is a punk rock/skate punk band that fed off the growing interest in punk rock and skateboarding in Southern California during the 1990s. The band recorded its album Duh, in four days before relasing the debut in 1992. After releasing its sophomore effort Trashed in 1994 while several punk bands were entering the mainstream, Lagwagon opted to stay with its independent label Fat Wreck Chords, turning down a number of major label deals. Following a short hiatus that lasted from 2000 to 2002, the band released two more albums before front man Joey Cape launched a solo career and Lagwagon was once again put on hold. Despite several line up changes, including the departure of its original bassist Jesse Buglione, Lagwagon has maintained its underground fanbase throughout its career. The band released a box-set of its first five albums and embarked on a world tour in 2011.
