Psy: Les 7 Doigts De La Main
Irvine Barclay TheaterFebruary 27, 2015 8:00 PM
4242 Campus Drive
Irvine, CA 92697
From 7 Fingers (Les 7 Doigts de la Main), the innovative Canadian performance troupe whose show "Tracers" was an international hit, comes this awe-inspiring show that's been called a "perfect blend of virtuosic technique, fantasy and poetry" ("La Presse"). The preternaturally gifted performers of 7 Fingers really know how to put on a show, combining inventive juggling, aerial rope, teeterboard and circus skills to dazzling effect. The new show, "Séquence 8", carries emotional dynamics to the point of explosion in an acrobatic dance and theater piece that contemplates the role of the "other" -- and how we define ourselves in relation to it. Come see the troupe that prompted "Time Out" to rave: "[Y]ou'll be moved emotionally at least as often as you're just flat-out astounded."

Dan Deacon
Eagle Rock Center for the ArtsFebruary 27, 2015 8:00 PM
2225 Colorado Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90041
Dan Deacon is an eccentric electronic guru of Baltimore, Maryland who is known for his fast-paced electro, seizure-inducing video projections, and position right in the middle of the audience when he plays live. While his beats play on drum machines and computers, Deacon sings into a vocoded microphone - transforming his voice into distorted harmony stacks. Oftentimes, he'll have audience members lift their arms in the air and grab hands with someone across from them to form a tunnel, which he runs through as he sings. His first full length release was Goose On The Loose (2003) which featured sine-waves manipulated by guitar pedals.
