The Marriage Of Bette and Boo
Costa Mesa Civic PlayhouseApril 26, 2015 2:00 PM
661 Hamilton Street
Costa Mesa, CA 92627
The Costa Mesa Playhouse celebrates its 50th season with a production of a play by one of American's best and most popular contemporary playwrights. Christopher Durang's comedies like "Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You" and "Baby With the Bathwater" have been charming audiences for years, and his success has only continued with his 2013 Tony win for "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike". The Playhouse will be performing one of his earlier works, "The Marriage of Bette and Boo", which won several Obie Awards in 1985. This painfully funny absurdist comedy takes a once-hopeful couple through twenty years of married life, with all of its conflicts, disappointments and ultimately, its understanding, as viewed by their only son Matt.

Grand and uplifting, "Les Misérables" is one of the most popular musicals of all time. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, "Les Mis" won eight Tony Awards on Broadway and was adapted into an Oscar-winning film. Long Beach's Musical Theatre West presents this sweeping tale of heartbreak, passion and the resilience of the human spirit. You'll be immersed in the tale of ex-convict Jean Valjean's struggle for redemption while trying to outrun the determined police inspector Javert, and moved by the innocent love of his adopted daughter Cosette for the revolutionary and student, Marius. It's a celebration of the human struggle for justice and happiness in the face of hardship, backed by a gorgeous score, including the beloved songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "Bring Him Home," "Do You Hear the People Sing?" and more.
