This park contains some beautiful wilderness with dozens of hiking trails that reach over 3,000 feet in elevation. The mountain and surrounding areas were originally home to over 20 different tribes of Native Americans, including the Ohlone and Bay Miwok. In fact, in these tribes creation myth, the mountain was the point of creation. Today, the park's Summit Museum and Visitor Center features a variety of exhibits and literature on the park and local history.
