Indie folk six-piece The War on Drugs is a band that was founded in Philadelphia by Adam Granduciel and Kurt Vile. Known for its fusion of Americana with fuzzy guitars hearkening back to 1990s shoegaze, The War on Drugs has built a devoted fan base since its formation in 2002. Though the group members are generally busy with other projects, The War on Drugs still releases new material and tours throughout the US and occasionally abroad.

Jonathan McCollum is a rapper who emerged out of Gwinnett County, GA under the name Rittz in 1992. After over a decade of industry disappointments, just when he was ready to give up his hip-hop dreams, he caught the attention of fellow rapper Yelawolf, who also hails from a small, under-represented town. The Gadsden, AL-based rapper featured Rittz on his track "Box Chevy," which appeared on the 2010 album Trunk Muzik 0-60. The two artists toured the US together in 2012, and in 2013, Rittz dropped his debut album, The Life and Times of Jonny Valiant, on Strange Music.
