The focus of this unique museum is a display of over 70 beautiful furniture items handmade by German cabinet makers in Texas during the mid-19th century. The museum is dedicated to depicting the community's heritage, the style of early life, and the history of handmade furniture created by area cabinetmakers.
Dedicated to preserving and collecting historic railroad artifacts, the New Braunfels Railroad Museum's interesting displays include a steam locomotive engine, an operating model train layout, and a historic caboose. This museum is open Thursday through Monday from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Special exhibits from artists around the world are held monthly at this gallery that also features original watercolors, oils, sculptures, and paintings by local and regional artists. A variety of art classes and workshops are also available.
New Braunfels' archives and museum of history, the Sophienburg is dedicated to preserving the history of the settlement of New Braunfels by "the Society for the Protection of German Emigrants to Texas" in 1844-1847 and the eventual development of this city and area of Texas through numerous artifacts and displays. The archives contain thousands of personal and public documents that interpret the written history of the area.
Owned by the New Braunfels Conservation Society, this historic home includes a 1900s barbershop and a museum which features an array of items such as handcarved miniature circus animals, pictures made from rocks, dolls from around the world, and handmade jewelry.
The Texas Agricultural Education & Heritage Center mission is "to educate the public, especially young people, about the importance of agriculture in our society and to promote the heritage of farming and ranching in Texas."
The Heritage Museum features rotating themed exhibits regarding the area
Features a growing collection of pre-World War II aircraft and memorabilia, in a working lab for aircraft preservation. The Vintage Aviation Historical Foundation hosts numerous exciting events at the old aerodrome each month.
