Dax Riggs, Josh Fleming (Of The Phuss)
    Three LinksAugust 01, 2014 9:00 PM
    2704 Elm Street
    Dallas, TX 75226
Growing up as a rock guitarist and vocalist in Indiana, Dax Riggs began his career as a member of various metal bands. Involvement with doom and sludge metal groups such as Acid Bath and Daisyhead & the Mooncrickets, helped Riggs hone his chops, and ultimately led him to discover a surprising amount of range in his voice, which would begin to take his music in other directions. With the intensity of his past projects still somewhat intact, Riggs' 2010 solo album, Say Goodnight to the World, nevertheless marked a shift in his sound. Heavy blues-rock and creepy atmospheric ballads set the tone of the album, but it's the sprawling wail of Riggs voice that quickly becomes the focal point.

Based on Victor Hugo's novel of the same name, Les Miserables is a musical drama composed by Claude-Michel Schönberg with lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel. Set against a backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells the story of Jean Valjean, a thief who has just been released after serving 19 years in jail for stealing a loaf of bread. Once he is free, he changes his identity and interacts with several other characters in a complex plot that explores themes of war, love and sacrifice. With no spoken dialogue outside of the musical numbers, the show has achieved immense popularity in the US as well as Europe with songs like "I Dreamed a Dream" and "On My Own," and has won several awards including a Tony for Best Musical.
