An amalgamation of the Romanesque and the Georgian styles of architecture has resulted into the Lake County Courthouse. It was built in 1878 by J. C. Cochran of Chicago, Illinois. This beautiful structure often referred lovingly as the "Grand Old Lady," now features a museum, restaurant, shops, a ballroom, Chamber of Commerce and City Court. It is one of the most visited sites in town.

A grand and imposing towering megastructure with ornate columns and pillars, the Knights of Columbus Building in Gary, Indiana is a ten-story historic building showcasing Gothic style architecture with contemporary brickwork. Carlson Oxbow Park is a wetland nature park located on the Little Calumet River. Originally intended for flood control measures, the area was turned into a park in 1998 after the river was straightened. Today, the park is a natural oasis, home to a rich variety of native wildlife, including the woodchuck and eastern cottontail rabbit as well as bird species like the house wren and blue winged teal. Built back in 1875, the Josephus Wolf House is a Victorian Italianate Mansion. Its enormous area spreads across 4500 acres (1800 hectares). It consists of 18 rooms featuring red oak flooring. The house has distinct features. A prime facet is the front veranda on the west region. In the interiors, The Great Room is a distinctive highlight which covers the entire width of the house. It is a great venue for private functions. The managers provide a tour of the house and the outdoor setting which includes tents, chairs and tables.
A sculpture park raised in memory of the warriors who laid down their lives for their country men, the Community Veterans Memorial is a must-visit attraction of the city.
