»Cavalia: Odysseo

March 01, 2015 2:00 PM

Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse is a multi-media extravaganza featuring equestrian arts, acrobats, live musicians and dazzling multi-media displays. Normand Latourelle, a co-founder of Cirque du Soleil, infuses Cavalia with the same theatrical dedication that is characteristic of all his other productions. The well-executed set transitions and seamless, flowing music draws the audience into a cocooned world that explores the primal connection between humans and horses, starting with the birth and discovery of the horse and ending with images out of the Wild West.

»Nobody's Perfect

March 01, 2015 7:00 PM

In the glorious tradition of "Some Like It Hot" and " Tootsie", the farcical "Nobody's Perfect" shows what happens when a mild-mannered statistician adopts a female pseudonym so he can submit his novel to a feminist writing competition ... and proceeds to win first prize. Determined to hide his true identity, protagonist Leonard Loftus plays his womanly alter-ego, the carefree Lulabelle Latiffa, to the hilt. But things get complicated in this production at Dallas' Pocket Sandwich Theatre when he falls in love with the head of the publishing company, Harriet Copeland. Throw in Loftus' wayward daughter and his irascible old father, and the result is a tangled web of cross-dressing cross-purposes that the "Birmingham Post" said "bristles with sharply funny one-liners."

»Greensky Bluegrass & Rayland Baxter

March 01, 2015 7:00 PM

Greensky Bluegrass is a bluegrass band from Kalamazoo, Michigan that was formed in 2000 as a three-piece outfit. While recording its debut album Less Than Supper in 2004, the band decided to fill its soundscape by hiring a bassist and dobro player. After the band acquired these two additional instrumentalists, it managed to anchor its jangly sound and gave its live performances depth. Greensky Bluegrass released the first volume of its live album series, All Access in 2009, followed by Volume 2 in 2010. With its refined sound, the band began to reach out to a broader audience, particularly with its fourth and most acclaimed studio album, Handguns. The effort debuted in 2011 at number three on US Bluegrass charts.
