Lufkin Country Club was built in 1935 and is popular for both golf and swimming. Its 18-hole golf course has a par of 72 and is dominated by Bermuda grass and pine trees. There are special memberships for schools and for using the swimming pool.
The Kit McConnico Park has 11 fields for soccer and seven for softball practice. It is the site of various tournaments and leagues and a favorite with the city's youth. Hikers and cyclists can embark on the Lost Arrow Mountain Bike Trail starting at the edge of this park.
The Davy Crockett National Forest comes under the purview of United States Department of Agriculture National Forest Service. This woodland has plenty of activities on offer that includes hiking, boating, camping and so forth.
Angelina National Forest, located in East Texas, is one of four such forests in the state. It is a popular recreational getaway among locals and tourists alike. This parkland is home to an extensive number of wildlife species like squirrel, wild turkey and deer, as well as the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. It also features two designated wilderness areas.
