This famed live music venue hosted some illustrious names in the past, including The Doors and Cream. It remains one of Denver's premier alternative music stages and hosts fantastic local acts. Friday and Saturday nights are the best for gigs, with many national acts passing through; weekdays are more themed, with ladies night on Thursday and, sometimes, the stage is the perfect foil for a raucous evening of karaoke. Check the website for details of upcoming events.

They have a full-bar and the bartenders are more than happy to keep the drinks pouring in and to keep your "spirits up" as you cheer your favorite band.
The weekend mariachi band and outdoor dining are the best aspects of a meal at El Noa Noa, but not because the food is so-so, but because it is so standard. The large open dining room moves with a constant frenzy and tends to be loud, especially if a band takes the stage. The standards are all here, including burritos, enchiladas and tacos. Or for something different opt for the fried trout in garlic sauce, or the stuffed shrimp.
Located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver, The Funky Buddha Lounge is a hip locals hangout. With two rooftop patios, a list of signature martinis, live music and the best bar bites in Denver, it's no wonder this place is always buzzing with activity. At La Rumba, formerly known as 9th Avenue West, sultry salsa dancing takes center stage. Within this spacious and colorful club, decorated down to the bathrooms with art from Picasso and his contemporaries, comfortable couches and sleek tables line the slick-tiled floor which gives way to salsa dancing through the night. This is one of Denver's few clubs that will make you feel out of place if you enter in T-shirt and shorts; dress is very classy. Free salsa dance lessons are also given.
Dazzle splashes a hefty dash of art deco, creating a glitzy bit of night magic in a space that looks nothing but drab from the outside. The huge bar and dining area could easily pass for a hip speak-easy, and the jazzy ambiance goes well with the wide selection of martinis. Service runs slow at times, but the dining room has a relaxed, darkened atmosphere. The menu is wide ranging, presenting everything from burgers to seafood, tamales to smoked duck. The crab cake appetizers are also a specialty.
Vinyl, the nightclub, is a popular one-stop for the young crowd to have some uninhibited fun. There is no shortage of bars here, in fact the club has three! A large spacious dance floor is on the ground level with a raised lounge upstairs and a more intimate downstairs area. The music here is spun by talented DJ's with quality drinks made by knowledgeable bartenders. It can get a little crowded on the weekends, so be sure to be there early to avoid the lines.
Located in a turn of the century stone church, this place is Denver's hottest nightspot and trendiest disco. The crowded main dance floor resides where pews once rested and a high tech lighting system flickers among awe-inspiring stained glass windows. Other rooms adjacent to the large dance floor offer sushi and pizza and inviting booths for lounging. Another room downstairs plays host to local bands. Check the website for cover prices as they vary on the weekends.
The underground nightclub at Larimer Square is an attempt by the owners Terry Martin and Michael Olsen to create an "atmospheric parlor". Exposed rocks and concrete give a very raw feeling to this club that has been woven with fabric and colors to give it an easy going appeal. Interesting are their rest rooms that play tracks from movies. A local favorite, the place tends to get crowded over the weekends.
If you are searching for a low-key neighborhood joint, crowded every night with Capitol Hill locals, the Park Tavern might be your best bet. Three two-for-one Happy Hours are offered daily (4:30p-6:30p, and 10p-midnight) making it one of Denver's true drinking nests. The pool tables and jukebox serve as nice diversions. Tuesday is open mike night, so bring along the guitar. A new chef has spiced up the bar menu that includes Jalapeno Poppers, Cheese Sticks, New York Strip Steak, hamburgers, pizza and Mexican fare.
Lucky Strike Lanes is located on the 3rd level of The Pavillions shopping center and near the 16th Street Mall. By day, Lucky Strike is a traditional, upscale bowling alley and pool hall. But by night, it's a blacklit, music filled club complete with drinks, snacks and "cosmic bowling." Until 9p, everyone is allowed in, but afterwards the lanes are 21 and up, and reserving lanes can be quite challenging without party reservations. Luckily, there is still plenty to do while waiting to bowl. Lucky Strike Lanes is one of the most unique nightlife experiences in Denver and all it takes is one night of cosmic bowling to see why. -Sabrina Zirakzadeh
