    »Foothills Golf Course

    Foothills Golf Course consists of three separate courses, providing one for every level of golfer. The 6900-yard (6310-meter), par 72 championship course offers a variety of diverse holes to confront the expert, while the par 31 executive course spans 2226 yards (2035 meters) and offers a challenging course for intermediate golfers. The par 27 course extends for 1175 yards (1075 meters) and is a great place for beginners to learn the game. Tee times can be reserved up to five days in advance.

    »Bear Creek Greenbelt

    Pick up this paved path at the east end of Bear Creek Lake Park for hiking, horseback riding, or biking. The trail runs from Kipling Parkway to Wadsworth Boulevard. Travel west to enjoy the open space of Bear Creek Lake, or head east along the weeping willow lined Bear Creek.The Greenbelt runs a little over a mile before turning into the Bear Creek Trail (west). Parking and restrooms are available at the historic Stone House.

    Raccoon Creek Golf Club is named for a stream that meanders through the middle of the course, causing a host of water hazards and prompting occasional angry club tosses. Trees are not a real factor on this 7,045-yard course, especially on the back nine, but the water more than compensates for the foliage absence.

    Rollerskating and rollerblading rinks might be passe nowadays, but don't let that stop you from taking a trip to Skate City! The Littleton location of this Colorado roller rink is one of the larger ones and still as affordable an activity as it was decades ago. Skates, blades, and safety equipment are available to rent for a small fee or feel free to bring your own! Skate City also features a small games arcade, complete with skee-ball and arcade games, and a snack and drink bar. Reserving the venue for parties or group events is easy and inexpensive, not to mention a nice alternative to the usual places. There are even classes available for newer skaters.     »Centennial Golf & Tennis Club

    Centennial Golf & Tennis Club features a par 63 executive golf course that spans 4,270 yards. To handle the crowds, it recently added an additional nine new holes and a newly renovated clubhouse. There is also a large, lighted driving range and a practice putting green. The club also offers six indoor tennis courts, as well as indoor and outdoor lounging areas. For a snack or full meal, an on-site café grill and bar is available. The short course is perfect for duffers squeezed for time.

    »Highline Canal Trail

    Following the meandering flow of a tree-lined canal, this easy, paved trail for biking, running and strolling travels through the southern section of Denver, from the edge of the western foothills to the eastern outskirts of the city. The route runs along side the Wellshire Golf Course before heading decidedly east. This trail crosses the Cherry Creek Bike Trail, which goes southeast to the Cherry Creek State Park, or northwest to the edge of Denver proper. Continue east on the Highline Canal Trail and tour through the Fairmount Cemetery before the trail shoots into the dark reaches of Aurora.

    »Green Mountain Recreational Open Space

    Located only 10 minutes west of Denver, Green Mountain is a haven for mountain bikers, runners and other outdoor enthusiasts. The wide array of single-track trails, ranging from packed dirt to loose rock and boulders, encourages beginners, but offer enough challenge for even the most experienced mountain bikers. The 1.5-mile steep climb up the west side fire road is certainly a test of will and lungpower. The less adventurous can opt for more scenic and leisurely ways to the hilltop and the short climb is worth the hike for the incredible panoramic views of the city.

    The Meadows Golf Course recently received a rating as one of the best public golf courses in the western United States. Spanning 6,995 yards, the par 72 championship course intertwines with Dutch Creek, providing plenty of hazards throughout the course. The links-style design also has plenty of ball-swallowing roughs, and greens with enough slope to test even the most skilled of putters. Tee times can be made up to three days in advance.

    »Bear Creek Lake Park

    Here, you can enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, fishing, picnicking and camping on 2600 acres of open space. Sailboats, sailboards, canoes, kayaks, paddle-boats, and bikes are available to rent Memorial Day to Labor Day at the Soda Lake Marina. Park rangers offer a variety of interpretive programs including nature guided hikes and weekly campfire programs in the summertime. Public golfing is also available. 50 campsites are available at the Indian Paintbrush Campground.

    »Polo Reserve Development

    The Polo Reserve Development is a fully equipped Polo field situated at a 15 mile drive away from Denver at the city of Littleton. Overlooking the scenic Rocky Mountains, the exodus of greenery amids the seclusion makes good atmosphere for staging events. One such notable one is the Denver Polo Classic. Each July, for three days, Denver natives flock to the Polo Reserves to watch a good old game of Polo and cheer the players amidst constant service of fine alcohol and food. All benefits from the Denver Polo Classic goes to aiding various children's causes.
