Lake Shafer, along with Lake Freeman, came into existence somewhere in the '20s when Norway and Oakdale Dams were built on River Tippecanoe. Covering the surface area of 2.02 square miles (5.22 square kilometers) in Monticello, IN, Lake Shafer runs about 10 miles (16 kilometers). As such, the lake and its shore offer a volley of outdoor activities for tourists and locals of Monticello and Union - there's swimming, boating, fishing, camping and lots more to do here. Apart from that, it's also where Indiana Beach Amusement Park is located. Thanks to all the dining options, campgrounds, motels and hotels and, activities offered in its vicinity, Lake Shafer makes for a great place for fun days out with kids.
The Kokomo Country Club Golf Course was incepted in 1904 as a nine hole golf course designed by William Diddle. It gradually started offering more facilities like locker rooms and dining. Today it's a premier 18-hole golf course offering the best of everything to its members and also serves food and alcohol. It has had the honor of hosting seven state championship tournaments and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The Kennekuk County Park is situated amid lush green countryside and is home to a 170-acre (68.8-hectare) lake.
