Led by Music Director Carlos Miguel Prieto, the company offers a 36 week concert season that includes a variety of classical pieces, contemporary compositions and casual classics as well as family, education and outreach concerts. Since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the members were forced to perform at a different location due to the flooding of its longtime base, the Orpheum Theater. Nevertheless, the orchestra had continued to move forward, raising awareness of the disaster and using it to fuel its contemporary classical sound.
