»Majestic Live Presents Andrea Gibson

March 30, 2015 8:00 PM

New Orleans native Andrea Gibson is a spoken word poet and vocalist who rose to recognition after relocating to Colorado and becoming a fixture at the weekly poetry readings at The Mercury Cafe, Denver's political hub. After representing Denver at The National Poetry Slam in Rhode Island in 2004, she joined Vox Feminista, a performing arts group aiming for social change. With a style of poetry that deconstructs and demystifies the political game through issues of gender norms, capitalism and white privilege, Gibson has earned a reputation as a radical and powerful voice of feminism and cultural revolution.

»Majestic Live Presents Cymbals Eat Guitars At The Frequency

March 30, 2015 8:00 PM

Paying homage to the indie greats before them with every guitar riff and cymbal crash, band members of Cymbals Eat Guitars sound as though they belong to an era of straightforward indie rock that has since dissipated. Consistently compared to Modest Mouse, Built to Spill and Pavement, many have claimed the group is relying on influences and thus creating nothing new, but others have hailed the group as the second coming of classic indie rock, lauding them with hype and praise difficult to live up to. While the debate persists over whether or not this New York based quartet is living up to its reputation or not, Cymbals Eat Guitars continues to release hyped albums and sell out venues across the US.

»Zz Top - Overture Hall

March 30, 2015 8:00 PM

The Texas-based blues rock outfit ZZ Top rose to prominence in the early 1970s with its dirty brand of southern rock and wailing guitar solos. After releasing its 1971 debut album, fittingly titled ZZ Top's First Album, the band established its raw, earthy sound and attitude with fuzzy guitars and rollicking rhythms. Each of the band's subsequent releases throughout the decade earned critical acclaim and a fair amount of radio play, proving that the three-piece band's Texas drawls and dirty jokes resonated with fans outside of the Lone Star State. ZZ Top continues to release its bluesy southern rock music and remains one of the most easily identifiable acts around with two of its three members sporting bushy, chest-length beards.

»Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Living Room Show

March 30, 2015 8:00 PM

A representation of the quintessential indie rock band coming out of the aughts, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah makes jangly, danceable music overlaid with frontman Alec Ounsworth's slightly awkward, but endearing, vocals. Formed in 2004 after members of the Brooklyn-based band met at Connecticut College, the five-piece slowly began building an underground fan base, but received a fair amount of mainstream attention for its single "Satan Said Dance," which appeared in multiple movie and television trailers. While the group's momentum slowed a bit as the decade progressed and Ounsworth focused on side bands and a solo project, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah still maintains a devoted fan base and tours occasionally.
