Experience a taste of Old Florida at Cross Creek Barbeque and Steakhouse, "fishcamp" style located a mile south of I-10 on the west side of Jacksonville. Here you dine on casual, family style-food and barbecue, cooked slowly and topped with plenty of spicy sauce. Try the chicken wings a million ways (beer breaded, babyback style, hot, honey mustard, Cajun, ranch), gator bites served with dipping sauce, or crispy zucchini sticks. Generous salads and soups are available, but it is the barbecue that counts: sticky, sweet babyback ribs, spare ribs, pork, chicken and beef are served with side orders of baked beans, French fries, fried okra or coleslaw. There is a full service bar and children's menu. There is also another Cross Creek Steakhouse on Jacksonville's Northside.

For some exquisite French cuisine coupled with an impressive wine selection, Orsay is the place to visit. Coq au vin, Maine lobster pot pie and croque madame are some of the favorites among the guests here. Dig into some of the lip-smacking desserts such as the vanilla bean crème brulee. As you can imagine, Orsay gets really crowded on weekends, so to avoid disappointment, be sure to reserve a table well in advance.
Open 7a to 3a, 7 days a week, Kickback's sets the standard for gastropubs in the Jacksonville area. If you can't find a beer you like from its selections of over 600 bottled beers and 84 beers on tap, then, quite simply, you don't like beer. Kickback's earns just as many raves for its food as it does it's beer selection, with the roast beef panini and macaroni and cheese earning particularly effusive praise. Day or night, come for a delicious meal or a tasty beverage.
This adorable little speakeasy is perhaps most popular for its addicting ring toss game: for two dollars, you get five mason jar lids to chuck at the bottles of liquor behind the bar; if you make your ring around a bottle, you get a free shot of whatever it is is — so shoot carefully! This place really gets poppin around 11p, so plan accordingly. Great for an intimate chat, The Rogue seems narrow upon first entrance, but actually stretches quite a bit into the back with plenty of seating. Check it out, but remember to keep it a secret!
Eclipse has one of the best old-wave nights in Jacksonville, with DJs spinning an endless assault of 80s hits. The dance floor, especially on Friday nights, becomes so packed with dancers that movement becomes limited. It draws a decidedly younger crowd, so expect a lot of kids with backward baseball caps. The establishment occasionally opens its doors to kids under 21. Drink specials vary, depending on the night.
The outdoor patio at West Inn Cantina is a terrific place to enjoy mild weather and meet with clients or friends over drinks with a Latin themed-vibe and decor. Large and airy windows illuminate the dining area and a stucco veranda features outdoor seating. Decor reflects Tex-Mex influence without the gimmickry.
This coffeehouse is a favorite among Jacksonvillians for its comfy couches and delicious homemade drinks. The atmosphere is perfect for getting some work done away from the office, so you can pop open your laptop and take advantage of the free WiFi. Don't forget to look at your coffee after you get it, for this place specializes in ornately decorated foam designs in your brew. Bold Bean also features several beers on tap, sure to make any beer lover giddy.
Close to downtown, southwestern cuisine is a hit here. A daily happy hour from 3p to 7p welcomes the after-work crowd and many stay on to enjoy the restaurant's elegant presentation of fine food, cheerful service and casual and warm atmosphere. Outdoor seating is popular on balmy evenings. Appetizers include spinach con queso dip, nachos, quesadillas, or fresh homemade chips and salsa. Dinner entrees feature grilled fish, crab cakes, pecan chicken, grilled pork tenderloin and steaks. The menu's massive burritos, tacos and sandwiches are served with rustic fries.
True to its name, Cozy Tea is a quiet place where you can relax and talk in length over steaming cups of tea. With delectable snacks and desserts to accompany the wide range of teas available, coming out to this eatery is a rather English experience. As this place is just across Five Points theater, you could pay a visit before or after a movie show. Pick a up sandwich or scone and catch up with your friends or just get lost in your thoughts at this tea room.
Well, not exactly a place where you would want to spend an entire evening or take your date along, but for a quick trip this place sure works fine. And nothing musical, no panoramic view but Riverview Music Shed is totally non pretentious. A perfect place to go to for all of you who feel like letting your hair down without making too much fuss. A great place to kick off a bar hop. So have a drink a drink or three, and then another before you the next stop.
Most of the time this place is like any other restaurant and serves its Jamaican variety of dishes. On weekends, however, it turns into a rocking nightclub. Fridays and Saturdays are fun with DJs playing groovy tunes or live bands performing. Their signature dishes happen to be Jerk Chicken & Fish, that are sizzling hot and of course spicy. Moreover, you'll feel comfortable with the warm customer service and the owner coming up and chopping it up with you.
