    »Travis Tritt

    August 25, 2014 7:30 PM

Since 1990, country singer Travis Tritt has been releasing records that seek to marry his love of r&b and gospel with that of the South's rich country and blues history. The bulk of Tritt's catalog is devoted to love ballads, most of which are lead by Tritt's own acoustic guitar melodies and sparse additional production. Like many country music stars Tritt has helped define, the music is almost always centers on love, loss and faith subjects that are most closely rooted in early r&b and gospel traditions.

38 Special (also known as .38 Special or Thirty-Eight Special) is a hard/Southern rock band from Jacksonville, Florida that saw its rise during the late-1970s as a Southern rock band, only to shift its music into the more popular realm of arena rock at the beginning of the 1980s. The band would reach the limelight in 1981 with the release of its hit single "Hold On Loosely," which was followed up by the two Billboard #1 hits, "Caught Up In You" and "If I'd Been the One" in 1982 and 1983, respectively. Despite seeing a lull in the band's career during the 1990s, 38 Special would come back in full force in 2007 and is showing no signs of letting up.

    »Rodney Atkins

    August 29, 2014 7:30 PM

Born and raised in Noxville, TN Rodney Atkins is a country music singer/songwriter who traveled to the nearby city of Nashville to pursue a music career in the mid 1990s. By 1997 he released his debut single "In a Heartbeat," which spent a week at number 74 on Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, but waited until 2003 to release his first full-length effort, Honesty. The album's title track became his first top ten single, but the record itself was received with mixed reviews for sounding similar to other modern country musicians. Atkins released his follow-up album If Your Going Through Hell in 2006 with a less produced sound and narrative lyrics, resulting in an honest effort with a title track that would go on to become his first number one hit.

    »Larry and His Flask

    September 25, 2014 10:00 PM

Larry and His Flask is a folk rock/indie punk band from Oregon that was founded in 2003 by brothers Jamin and Jesse Marshall. What started off as a sweat and beer-soaked punk rock band slowly turned its focus to creating melodies, and with the addition of guitarist Dallin Bulkley, mandolin player Kirk Skatvold and banjo player Andrew Carew, Larry and His Flask honed its sound into aggressive indie rock with echoes of country and folk music. The band's multiple-part harmonies pair nicely with its punk undertones, resulting in raucous but substantial live shows. In 2005, Larry and His Flask released its debut album The Lost Seamen, a record in high contrast to the band's 2011 effort, All That We Know. The album exemplifies the band's transformation from punk rock kids into folk, indie, and punk-inspired craftsmen.
