Located in a historic church in downtown Grapevine, the visual experience is almost as good as the wine. The premises of La Buena Vida are surrounded by arbors dripping with vines and greenery. La Buena Vida's tasting room features six wines from the vineyard located in Springtown, Texas. Other wine offerings are from the Alamo Farms Winery and there is champagne from the Smith Estate. There is also a small museum with wine making paraphernalia from as far back as 1869. Grapevine Botanical Gardens is nestled in the Heritage Park and opened its doors in 2000. This lovely green enclosure features walking trails, a garden court, gazebo, performance stage, sitting areas, landscaped gardens with waterfalls and bridges, a fish pond and a butterfly sanctuary. It also has an educational pavilion on its east side. The beautiful blooms and lush trees add to the tranquility of this place.

»The Studios at Las Colinas

Texas' own major movie production facility is the largest in the country outside of Florida and California. The studio's production company, Thornhill Productions Inc., has helped create such prestigious films as Silkwood, JFK and Trip to Bountiful. The public tour features such film artifacts as costumes from The Sound of Music and the bench from Forrest Gump. The tour lasts about an hour and a half, and includes The Blue Screen F/X Show, where the magical effects of the movies are explained and demonstrated.
