Based on Charles Dickens' perennial classic novel of the same title, A Christmas Carol has become an iconic Christmas season tradition on stages all around he world. The story follows an ill-mannered miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, who is convinced to change his ways after three ghosts from Christmases past, present and future visit him on Christmas Eve. Many critically-acclaimed stage adaptations of Dickens' tale exist, including a monodrama adapted and performed by world-renowned actor Patrick Stewart and a musical.
Recognizable for his long white hair, a long white beard, aviator sunglasses and signature large straw cowboy hat, Leon Russell is singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Lawton, OK. Despite his rock and roll appearance, Russell creates tasteful piano rock, in the same vein as Billy Joel or Elton John. Initially getting his start in the 1960s as a studio pianist working with an impressive list of musicians and producers including Phil Spector, The Beach Boys and The Byrds, he managed to evolve as a respectable solo musician in the 1970s by making catchy, instrumentally-adept, country-tinged music. While his notoriety has undoubtedly ebbed since his 1970 self-titled debut album, Russell is still releasing music and playing shows to audiences who aren't keen on the idea of forgetting the musician's time-tested talent.
