Few singers are lucky enough to have a voice that's extremely recognizable and entirely representative of the vocalist's entire sonic ethos. Somehow Ohio-born singer/songwriter Macy Gray was born with one such voice and ever since she burst onto the scene with her smash hit single "I Try" off her 1999 debut album Oh How Life Is, Grey has become widely known amongst the general listening public for her raspy croon.

    Screaming Females, Pujol
    Walter's DowntownOctober 24, 2014 9:00 PM
    1120 Naylor Street
    Houston, TX 77002
Screaming Females' seven years as a band, four full-length albums and 700 globe-spanning live shows has made them difficult to miss. Through it all, the New Brunswick, New Jersey trio have continued to exude a frenetic energy which is built upon the zeitgeist of America's punk and indie underground yet has always remained forward-looking. Fittingly, for Screaming Females' 5th album Ugly, the band enlisted legendary recording engineer Steve Albini, famed for his unique ability to capture the ferociousness of a live performance while delivering gorgeous sonic clarity. The album's 14 tracks reaffirm the touchstones of the band; they can still shred and front-woman Marissa Paternoster can still unleash a powerful howl. But it doesn't end there. The album ushers in new explorations for the band, a truly remarkable feat considering their already prolific output. Ugly has the perfect combination of raw energy and honed musicianship that produces the type of rock & roll which is still a force to be reckoned with.

David Grace, Jr. is the son of David Grace, Sr. and Sharon Mae Grace. Music has always been an essential part of his life. Both his mother and father have immense talent in music ranging from vocal, vocal harmony, and instrument play. He managed to get his mother's power while inheriting his father's soothing mannerisms as a vocalist. His father is also a magnificent steel guitarist, thus, explaining the talent of David's instrumental play. David's father is also an astonishing writer.

During David's collegiate years, he was a four-year letter winner as a middle linebacker for the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Javelina football team. David received his Bachelor's Degree of Science in May of 2006 and received his Master's Degree of Science in December of 2007 from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

"All of my writing comes from personal experiences. Having a reason to write is the core of creating of a great song. It's not just the lyrics and chords, but how the song is presented to the listener and how it can relate to their personal experiences. I never could just ‘write to write'; it had to be a feeling or a notion of some sort. I do not know if that is a positive or a negative in the songwriters' creed, but personally it has worked in my favor thus far." -David Grace

    Wade Bowen
    Big Texas - SpringOctober 24, 2014 10:00 PM
    19959 Holzwarth Road.
    Spring, TX 77388
Wade Bowen, raised in Texas, released his debut album in 2002. He is often associated with the genre known as "red dirt," though Bowen has a grittier voice than most of the other artists in the category. Bowen doesn't try to hide his background or who he is: he doesn't wear a cowboy hat and he doesn't moan about being a country boy. Instead, Wade Bowen takes a more mature stance on country by observing the characters of his hometown and writing honest rock songs and ballads from these observations.
