    »George Lopez

    September 19, 2014 7:15 PM

Probably best known as the producer, star and writer of his eponymously-titled television sitcom, George Lopez is one of the more prominent Mexican-American comedians who isn't afraid to touch on subjects that some might consider taboo. The Los Angeles-based comedian got his start on the stand up circuit and shortly managed to build up enough steam for television insiders to notice him. With the sever lack of Mexican-American comedies on television, some thought that it was time to give Lopez a show of his own so he could latch on to a large demographic that has historically gone untapped. George Lopez premiered on ABC in 2002 and had a successful run of six seasons. After the show concluded in 2007, Lopez went on to host a short-lived talk show called Lopez Tonight. Though he can be found making cameo apparences in various television shows and movies, Lopez has gone back to performing the one thing that helped break him in the world of showbiz: stand-up comedy.

    »Dom Irrera

    September 19, 2014 7:30 PM

Dom Irrera is a stand-up comedian from Philadelphia who cultivated his sense of humor while growing up in a multi-generational Italian household. With four generations crammed into three stories, his childhood home was as hotbed for hilarious, awkward and over the top material that went on to fuel his stand-up routines. Irrera has since built an impressive resume, appearing at the Just for Laughs Festival more times than any other comic, and collected an international following.

    »Awaiting The Apocalypse

    September 19, 2014 7:30 PM

The end is near -- or is it? -- in the comedy "Awaiting the Apocalypse". In a small, dingy diner called Smithereens, Mort, Solomon and Sylvester believe themselves to be three of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They wait, not so patiently, for the fourth horseman to arrive and start the end of the world. That's when Cameron, a young, single guy, stumbles into the diner, chasing a girl he's too cowardly to talk to, and unwittingly gets drawn into the old men's plans for Armageddon. Between laughs, Jonathan M. Vick's work asks some serious questions, like "What is the apocalypse? Is it fire and brimstone and deities passing judgment? Or is it just you and me giving up?"
