    »Styx

    September 20, 2014 7:30 PM

Legendary 1980s hair metal band Styx has likely influenced the 21st century's generation of campy pop punk. Styx music was as much about the performance and theater as it was making rock anthems. Spanning over three decades of releases, Styx has settled into a role that relies on nostalgia, playing concerts packed with folks wanting to hear the early stuff. The fact that these guys have the confidence and energy to return to a different music industry shows that sometimes a passion for the rock and roll lifestyle is all you need to keep going.

    September 20, 2014

Lecrae Moore is a Christian rapper and the co-founder of Reach Records. Though Christianity and praising God are now the focal points of his musical endeavors, Moore didn't come to find religion until he was 19 years-old. After redirecting his life trajectory, he began to take his rapping seriously, forming Reach Records when he was 25 as a means of getting his music and message out into the world. His 2006 album After the Music Stops earned the distinction of being the first rap album to top the Billboard Gospel charts.

    »Big Apple Circus

    September 20, 2014 12:00 PM

New York's long running circus was originally the brainchild of Russian-born Gregory Fedin, whose goal was to train "first generation" performers in the traditions of circus acts. The show has been running since 1977, growing larger and larger over the years until it eventually became the New York staple it is today. The Big Apple Circus combines clowns, trapeze artists, animals galore and everything you'd expect from a classic circus, with a touch of modern flair inspired by current popular shows such as Cirque du Soleil.

    »Colossal

    September 20, 2014 1:45 PM

One of the most-anticipated new plays of 2014, "Colossal" is a story of love, family and emotional and physical endurance. Structured like a football game, with four quarters, plus pre-game and halftime shows, it tells the story of Young Mike, a college football player who took a hit in a game that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Throughout the course of the play, he remembers the accident with the help of a live, nine-person football squad onstage. The play stars Michael Patrick Thornton, best known from his role on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off, "Private Practice".
