Columbia Carousel is located at the Six Flags Great America and is world's tallest Carousel. The carousel is double-decker and has 106 ornate horses and animals. These are beautiful crafted with utmost attention to details and are lit up with carnival lights. The carousel overlooks a beautiful pond and is open for people of all ages.
Goliath (Six Flags Great America) holds three world records for the fastest speed, steepest drop as well as the longest drop and is a wooden roller coaster that offers two inversions. With a top speed of 72 miles per hour and a height of 180 feet, this ride is designed for adventurous people. Zero gravity stall is a unique experience where riders hang upside down over the crest of a hill.
Activities abound at the Midwest's largest theme park, from speeding roller coasters like Deja Vu and Viper to pure thrill rides like the Giant Drop and Vertical Velocity. Experience one of the deepest drops possible and ride the Goliath, a new wooden roller coaster with steel layers in the track that make the thrilling drop possible. Built by Jim and Linda Onan, the 17000 square feet (1579 square meters) Gold Pyramid is a marvellous 24 carat gold plated private residence. The venue recreates an authentic Egyptian environment, through its traditional architecture and its impressive Pharaoh replicas. Visitors can have a look at the remarkable 50 foot large statue of King Tut, located in the premises, and take away some unique Egyptian arts and crafts from its gift shop.
The Cuneo Mansion and Gardens is a historic museum based in Vernon Hills, Illinois and designed by architect Benjamin Marshall of Marshall & Fox. It was built in the year 1914, and is now an art gallery and historic house museum. The mansion has been the backdrop of many movies like My Best Friend's Wedding, Witless Protection, to name a few. It is open to the general public for viewing.
As the biggest park in the Vernon Hills Park District, the Century Park lays sprawled a total area of 113 acres (45.7 hectares), comprising park land and water bodies. There are two lakes inside this park, the Big Bear Lake and the Little Bear Lake, which are great for fishing and boat rides. Besides, there are also ball fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, and picnic shelters, to ensure that everyone finds something they enjoy doing.
Belvidere Park is a great place to spend a summer day swimming in their public pool. The park also has ball fields., tennis courts, basketball courts and more.
Ben Diamond Park has lush green lawns and a playground with a sandpit for kids to play in. They also have a tennis court, a baseball diamond and other amenities.
Waukegan Sports Park is where you can find most of the sports enthusiasts of Waukegan. The place hosts several leagues and tournaments of Baseball, Soccer, Softball. The park consists of a playground as well as a spray park. There are water fountains in the park as well. The fields reserved for various sports are also available for rent.
Ray Bradbury Park is named after the renowned science fiction novelist who lived near this location. The park has a playground and scenic walking trails including the Dandelion Trail which is a stairway which leads down a beautiful ravine surrounded by trees. The park also has a memorial stone in honor of the writer.
Inaugurated in the year 1902, the Waukegan Public Library today has a wide selection of books, videos and audio books. With its wide selection and many services, the library has won several national awards.
