The Texas Sculpture Garden is the largest private collection of contemporary Texas sculpture. It contains 41 pieces of sculpture, designed by Texas' most important sculptors. The Texas Sculpture Garden is open to the public during business hours.
Your family will enjoy the great outdoors at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. It provides a tranquil place to escape the hectic city life for an afternoon. You will find untainted woods, meadows, a collection of native Texas trees, and a habitat for birds, fish, and wildlife. Travel back to the simple days of farm life years ago at this unique venue that features a farmer's market, a petting zoo, children's games, pony rides, and a country style party facility.
This historically correct museum is dedicated to safeguarding the history of farm life on the Texas prairie from 1890 to 1920. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this four-acre site is accredited by the American Association of Museums. You will be able to view a restored 14-bedroom Victorian farmhouse with its original outbuildings, gardens and smokehouse along with a blacksmith's shop and farm animals. Period-dressed volunteers give guided tours. Among the many programs available are birthday party plans for children up to age 12.
Spread over a whopping 800 acres (323 hectares) of lush greenery, the Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is the largest park in all of Plano. Families and groups take full advantage of the soft surface trail and concrete trails that run along the Rowlett Creek, offering panoramic views of some spectacular flora and fauna. There is also an amphitheater which plays host to live gigs, cultural and community events.
