Unbelievable but true: the entire town was shifted to another location after it ravaged successively by 6 floods, and this incident has gone down as the 2nd largest town relocation in the history of the US.
Bestowed with the sobriquet of 'Wood Capital of the World' because of its booming furniture industry, Jasper has often been considered as one of the best places in America to relocate to. With pre-dominantly German Catholic roots, there is an abundance of old cathedrals and churches that manifest wonderful architectural elements. Strassenfest is a 4 day annual festival held in collaboration with Jasper's sister city in Germany, Pfaffenweiler whose citizens actually fly down to America for the fest! Street festivals, parties, community events, firework shows and beauty pageants happen all of the time in this exotic city so pack your bags and come on over. Jasper Beckons.
