Serrano's Southwestern Grill is a local favorite both for the food and the social atmosphere. The centerpiece of the Gunbarrel Shopping District, Serrano's serves affordable food and local drinks with no special flair or twists, just solid cooking and company both in the restaurant and the bar. Every night has a different happy hour meal special, including Tuesday's Dollar Hamburgers (served with optional hot sauce and guacamole), the decor is colorful and welcoming for families and bar-hoppers alike, and the staff is prompt, welcoming, and friendly to everyone. The southwestern food is quite spicy so if you're sensitive to hot food, be sure to ask for sauces and toppings on the side. Serrano's is a great place to get a taste of real southwestern cuisine in a great atmosphere. - Sabrina Zirakzadeh
Cafe Blue is a modest little cafe in the middle of the Gunbarrel Shopping District. However, for such a small, out-of-the-way place, it has quite the reputation. To begin with, it's one of the most family-friendly cafes in all of Boulder, with the kids and seniors menus also open for adult purchase if you ask; the selection of sandwiches, soups, and burgers is perfect for picky eaters and kids while more exciting, internationally-flavored options are available for the more adventurous; and all for low, low prices! Cafe Blue does get busy during meal times so it's best to call ahead, though reservations are not necessary. A great way to relax after a day in Boulder. - Sabrina Zirakzadeh
Concertos in Chocolate may not be the most conveniently located chocolate and sweets shop in Boulder County, but it is indefinitely worth the effort of seeking out. Located just behind and next to the Gunbarrel Shopping Center, Concertos in Chocolate is a great place to get away from the city for a bit while indulging your sweet tooth. With a huge selection of freshly made truffles, caramels, toffees, confectionaries, and even marzipans and chocolate fruit, there's something for everyone at Concerts in Chocolate. The prices are affordable and packages of single, half-dozen, and dozens of chocolates are available, as well as special catering packages for events. Concertos in Chocolate truly is worth the extra drive for the best chocolate in Boulder. - Sabrina Zirakzadeh
Locally known as one of the best places for excellent service, Rock Bottom Brewery – Orchards. Drop in here for a good time during happy hours Monday through Friday. The restaurant features some great beers. Food served here is delicious and fresh. Service is quick and efficient. Watch out vegetarians, not too many options in starters for you.
Cafe de Paris, located in the middle of Downtown Louisville, is a lovely international coffeehouse in a fantastic location. Within easy walking distance of all of the old town area, Cafe de Paris offers a place to stop for drinks or a small meal whether you've been shopping, browsing the historical district, visiting the park, or even bar-hopping in the evening. The coffee is made from fresh, organic beans, the sandwiches range from crab and cheese melts to eggplant and polenta, wine and beer are available alongside the hot and iced drinks, and live music and other events are scheduled five nights a week or more. Cafe de Paris is quite small but does not to reservations before dinner so be prepared to wait or put in your name and enjoy exploring the area in the meantime. For a quick, European-style bite, this is a great place to try. - Sabrina Zirakzadeh
Henry's Bar and Grill has been a staple of downtown Louisville for decades and its staying power is easy to understand; low prices, good, filling food, and friendly atmosphere are great draws to this little grill! Located right in the middle of the downtown area, Henry's is small and unassuming, but worth a visit during your day downtown. The menu is simple bar food but all is prepared with care and made to be delicious. Furthermore, the drink menu is extensive and ranges from local brews to favorite beers, wines, and mixers. Henry's is busiest during sports games but still worth a visit any time. If you're looking for a drink, snack, or full meal while you explore, check it out. - Sabrina Zirakzadeh
The Huckleberry is the only British tea room and restaurant in the Boulder area. Located in the heart of downtown Louisville, the restaurant is easy to find and an enjoyable diversion from wandering the other local shops and museums in the area. However, the popularity of the Huckleberry makes it difficult to just "pop in" without prior planning. The menu offers full British breakfasts and Colorado favorites alike, comfort food entrees served in the British style, and rich, freshly made desserts and wine for a full dining experience. The afternoon tea is the real draw, offering sandwiches, cheeses, and other snacks alongside the usual tea cakes and sweets. However, while the food is delicious, the prices are a bit high, with very little outside the breakfast menu costing less than USD10. -Sabrina Zirakzadeh
Whether you wish to grab a home cooked meal with family or if you wish to listen to awesome music with friends, you can get a dose of both at Oskar Blues Grill & Brew. The major attraction has to be the live performances. Many of the well known personalities have paid visits here. But that is not all, the food menu features a delicious array of Southern style cooking accompanied by a nice selection of beers.
Featuring a tasting room with excellent beers on tap, the Avery Brewing Company has been producing delicious brews since its inception in 1993. Visit this place to sample some specials straight from the brewery in addition to a dining menu which includes gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, fries, salads and wings. Tours around the Avery Brewing Company will give you deeper insight into the manufacturing process for their popular suds, they even have cask-conditioned ale.
The Boulder Beer Company is hidden in the business and residential area off of the Valmont and Foothills Parkway, but it's location doesn't stop it from being a popular and fantastic place to grab a meal and a drink. Located in a functioning brewery, Boulder Beer offers a menu of local bar food made with organic ingredients for low prices, but the real joy comes from the atmosphere and the beer menu. The pub feels like a traditional British pub, welcoming loungers, casual diners, and serious drinkers alike, with the option of watching or even taking tours of the brewery while you drink. The beer menu changes regularly and includes both major labels, European lagers, and specialty micro-brews from around the country. However, the best here is probably Boulder Beer's signature brew, the Mojo India Pale.
