    September 19, 2014 8:00 PM

Born and raised in Guatemala, Gaby Moreno began writing singer/songwriter folk ballads in Spanish at an early age. In 2001, however, she moved to Los Angeles and began incorporating English songs into her repertoire as well, surprising people with her evident mastery of both languages when singing. Moreno began fusing her traditional folk with elements of neo-soul and Southern blues to an impressive effect and won the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Contest as a result. This award helped her receive enough attention to land songs on many popular television shows and garner a Grammy nomination. Moreno continues to tour worldwide and has a diverse, international fan base.
