    Battery Maritime Building

    110 South Street
    New York, NY 10004

Sa to Su from 10:00 AM to 07:00 PM

This ferry building is a fine example of innovative Beaux-Arts design. The slip was constructed in 1909 and it still functions as a passenger portal for ferries around the harbor today. This is the last ferry building that remains on the East River and since ferry service was discontinued in 1938, the edifice had undergone many alterations and ultimately fell into disrepair. In 2001, the city's Economic Development Corporation worked tirelessly to refurbish the building and added its original accoutrements. Today, the slip is used as the main point of departure to Governor's Island. The island is only open in the summer and it is a great option instead of the Staten Island Ferry, however both are free and offer great views of Manhattan and beyond.
