For budding musicians from 10 to 18 years of age who are keen on making it on stage as a member of a rock band, enroll for summer sessions at RockBand University. Known as "Davis's Official School of Rock", the institute gives a chance for budding musicians to rehearse, jam and perform with other artists on stage. This institute is a perfect place for students to start off with their careers in music. Apart from training, the RockBand University also serves as a venue for concerts.
The breakfast at Delta Of Venus features homemade granola, three-egg omelets and organic tofu scrambles. The service is casual but effective. Taking your order at the wooden counter inside, the cashier doubles as a waiter and brings the quickly executed dish to your table. The menu also features coffee drinks, fresh salads, homemade soups and a variety of sandwiches for lunch. You'll find a table in one of the three dining rooms indoors or on the patio.
This performance hall is the smaller (and older) theatre on campus, and has housed a wide range of entertainment over the years. Craft shows, concerts, dance, fundraisers and campus events have all seen the stage at Freeborn Hall. One of the favorite facilities on the UC Davis campus, this is a great venue to check out lectures and concerts with guests ranging from Beck to John Cleese of Monty Python fame, this is where the real learning happens.
The Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts is a world-class performance space opened by the University of California, Davis, in 2002. The space hosts both regional and national performers, and funds the University Orchestra. The Mondavi box office and administrative building is located at One Shields Avenue, while the performing arts center is at the intersection of Mrak Hall Drive and Old Davis Road.
Earlier known as the Recreation Hall, the 8,000 seat Pavilion is known to play host to athletic competitions, music concerts, trade shows, business conferences, ceremonies and cultural events. This multi-purpose arena also houses the UC Davis Women's Volleyball team, Women's Gymnastics team, and Men and Women's Basketball team home courts. The Yolo Basin Foundation is dedicated to the appreciation of wetlands and wildlife through education and innovative methods. Bucks for Ducks is an annual fund raiser event organized by this foundation. It features wildlife art exhibits, field trips and workshops, and the ever-popular ducklings! All the proceeds go to the Foundation for Conservation and other education programs.
Aggie Stadium is a multi-purpose sports arena that gives sports buffs of the University of California, Davis a reason to cheer about. Built in 2005, the stadium has an intake of 30,000 and several tournaments, championships and leagues are regularly hosted here. It is well facilitated with locker rooms, comfortable seats and video screens. Dixon Fairgrounds is a spacious event venue that is always bustling with activities and fun. Throughout the year, it hosts variety of events ranging from dog shows, club meetings to cultural events. Located across Starboard Drive, the CSA Event Center is an ideal venue for major and intimate events alike. This center, with a seating capacity of 400 people, has installed acoustic tiles, to ensure that no single beat or rhythm is missed out on. Since 1877, Elks No.6 has served various purposes and stands till date as a leading venue for any kind of event. Banquet style, lounge rooms, patio and Emblem room are the different facilities to suit different kinds of events. It also features a fitness centre that has with cardio and weight equipment, a pool and Jacuzzi, squash court and a barbecue area. Some events for youngsters are arranged here and elicit a good response.
The seats in Raley Field offer a nice view of the Sacramento skyline. The park has more than 11,000 seats and is a popular venue for concerts, festivals and other events. It is also home to the Sacramento River Cats, a baseball team who holds the 2007 Pacific League Champions title. There are concession stands offering the usual ballpark fare, as well as Mexican cuisine, pizza, barbecue and grilled veggie sandwiches.
