Because Thompson studied abroad and lived in Europe for several years, her work style varies from figural in the '60s to abstract in the '70s. She was influenced by American jazz, European classical music, African textiles and German expressionism.

Marshall Crenshaw is a singer/songwriter and guitarist fromDetroit, Michigan who first came to attention playing John Lennon in the off-Broadway touring company of the musical Beatlemania. While in New York, he recorded the single "Something's Gonna Happen" for Shake Records, leading to a contract with Warner Bros. Records and his eponymous debut album in 1982. In addition to his own recorded material, such as his 1999 critically acclaimed album #447, he has penned iconic tunes for other artists such as "Til I Hear It from You," recorded by Gin Blossoms, and the title track for the 2007 film Walk Hard. Crenshaw released is tenth studio album, Jaggedland, in 2009.

Grant Green Jr. is a jazz guitarist from St. Louis, Missouri, who is perhaps best known as one-third of the ensemble Masters of Groove. The son of legendary jazz guitarist Grant Green, he first picked up a guitar at age 14 and was immediately exposed to various jazz musicians who would visit his home, particularly after he and his family relocated to New York. Green moved to Detroit with his father, and was again surrounded by musical greats such as Marvin Gaye and other Motown artists, who went on to influence his style of playing. He released his debut solo albumJungle Strut, in 1997, establishing his modern jazz fusion sound before joining Bernard Purdie and Reuben Wilson to form Masters of Groove. He has since continued to release several albums with the trio as well as on his own.

Posse up! Moonshadow Marauders ride into town to headline with Matt Donald on guitar and Yoshi Furuta on lead guitar. Loco D and Laidback will be on percussion and bass, and they will also back Poverty Level Band, who will follow the opening act, The Threadbare Skivvies. This fantastic duo, Kate Wright and Chris Adams, will set off the festivities at 8pm, and they will join the Marauders later on for an epic closing set. Randy Burnett will be working fire between sets all night long!   $10 Adv $12 Door Doors @ 7 PM   Moonshadow Marauders features original music and fun cover songs through an Americana filter. Members are "Rhythm" Matt Donald, Jeff Lauterbach, David Loco D Hirsch form the core group with rotating players such as Charles Absher, Eric Gant, Shanti Price, Daniel Hearn, Yoshi Furuta, Brian Walkabout and Mo Gouinlock.    Moonshadow Marauders on Facebook   Poverty Level Band members are lead singer Phillip Bridges, guitar players John JD Hopkins and Mason Coates, and drummer Craig Clontz. Hopkins also plays fiddle, and is the bands primary songwriter. Bridges, Hopkins, and Clontz have been together as part of the band since 2009, with Coates joining them in 2011. All of the band members originally hail from western Virginia and moved together to the Atlanta area last year to pursue their musical ambitions. Its a bluegrass-y, bohemian banjo bangin', stompin & clappin kind of business powerhouse harmonies, funky rhythms, and soulfully crafted lyrics.   Kate began performing in suburban coffee shops as a solo singer song-writer at 15. She attributes her development as a lyricist to nature, good literature, & the worries and wonders of love. Chris started out drumming for an Atlanta alternative band, Chainestereo, in the early 2000s. He now plays accordion, bass, and various percussion with both Kate, and another Atlanta band called Jesse and the Great Perhaps.   Kate & Chris met one blustery winter evening about 5 years ago at a cabin party in the North Georgia woods & the two have been inseparable since. But it wasnt until the fall of 2012 that they began performing together officially.   Their first EP and the upcoming full-length album are intended to provide the same nostalgic joy of the perfect roadtrip mix tape exuberant catchy choruses & plenty of room for ruminations and revelry.
