Drummer Jeff Sipe
The Velvet NoteMarch 29, 2015 9:00 PM
4075 Old Milton Parkway
Alpharetta, GA 30005
It was legendary guitarist Steve Vai who first introduced drummer Jeff Sipe to the range of music and rhythms he has made a career from today. The two played in a band together while attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, where Sipe studied under Bob Kaufman and Bill Norine, attended clinics given by Alan Dawson and was found a mentor in Lee Venters. With influences ranging from bluegrass to rock, Latin and blues to jazz, Sipe is now one of the most notable jazz fusion drummers in the region. He is a founding member of Aquarium Rescue Unit, an Atlanta band that although never commercially successful, served as an influential template for future bands.

Be there as Gwinnett Ballet Theatre breaks exciting new ground with the performance of its first, full-length contemporary work. Created by the company's artistic director Wade Walthall, the three-act coming-of-age story follows a young man's "Journey" through life as he searches for love and purpose. This production, a Georgia premiere, is set to a score by Rachmaninoff, Gorecki and Michael Nyman. The well-regarded Walthall danced as a soloist and principal with the National Ballet of Holland, National Ballet of Spain and Pacific Northwest Ballet, before turning his attention to teaching and choreography.

Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament
Medieval Times - Atlanta CastleMarch 29, 2015 2:30 PM
5900 Sugarloaf Parkway
Lawrenceville, GA 30043
Medieval Times is an exciting dinner attraction inspired by the 11th-century world of knights, jousting and majestic revelry. You're served a four-course banquet during which you can cheer for one of six knights as they compete in the joust and other tests of skill. Medieval Times dinner and show features live jousting, sword fights, horsemanship and a "no utensils" meal, so you can feast like a king. A rousing musical score by composer Daniel May sets the tone for this action-packed show that's filled with more fighting and more romance. The show also features a display from the royal falconer, who performs wonders with his mighty birds of prey, including a live flight of the royal falcon, soaring above the heads of the king's guests. Amid the festivities, a herald from a foreign king arrives, with a special stallion presentation for the king and his guests.
