Julian Sands: A Celebration Of Harold Pinter
    Emerson Concert HallSeptember 22, 2014 7:00 PM
    1700 North Decatur Road
    Atlanta, GA 30322
For his one-man ode to an idol, actor Julian Sands ("A Room With a View", "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") combines the poems and political prose of Nobel Prize-winning British poet and playwright Sir Harold Pinter. Pinter earned acclaim for his plays "The Caretaker" and "The Birthday Party", and was famously outspoken about international human rights abuses and U.S. foreign policy. Sands' homage will include his own personal anecdotes culled from working with Pinter shortly before the writer's death in 2008. Acclaimed actor-director John Malkovich -- who's directed a number of Pinter plays and acted alongside Sands -- helmed this internationally renowned production.

    Black Prairie
    Eddie's AtticSeptember 22, 2014 8:00 PM
    515 North McDonough Street
    Decatur, GA 30030
Formed by 3 members of popular indie rock band The Decemberists, Black Prairie first came to be on a tour where Decemberists guitarist Chris Funk decided to devote more time to his square-necked Dobro guitar. A couple other members became interested too and the trio soon had an old-style string band as a side project. A few years later, the band assumed two more members, donned the name Black Prairie and became a full-fledged band. With a musical style that incorporates old-style folk, indie rock and Americana, the Portland-based band has impressed a variety of audiences.
