Cumberland Mountain State Park is situated on the Cumberland Plateau. It is said to be the largest timbered plateau in America. The park offers rental of paddleboats, canoes and row boats for use on Byrd Lake. Rustic cabins are also available for rent which can house four to sixteen people. Tent and RV campsites are also available at the park. A olympic size pool is open durning the summer. Other activities available at the park are: fishing, badminton, basketball, horseshoes, playground, softball, tennis, and volleyball.

Virgin Falls Pocket Wilderness is a picturesque 1157-acre (468-hectare) natural oasis. Located a short distance from the Sparta city center, it offers locals and tourists an adventurous getaway. Follow the eight-hour hiking trail into the great outdoors and camp out at several spots along the way. Admire the beauty of the pristine waterfall that makes a 100-foot (30-meter) drop off the cliff into the underground cave.
The Sparta Rock House is an important landmark as far as the Tennessee's transportation history is concerned. It functioned as a toll house and dates back to the 1830s era. Prominent individuals like Sam Houston and Frank Clement have visited this house.
