Centered on legendary guitarist Carlos Santana, the rock outfit Santana was founded as the Carlos Santana Blues Band in the late 1960s. Born in Mexico to a father who played violin in a mariachi band, Santana picked up both the violin and guitar at an early age and eventually left Mexico and for San Francisco. While working as a street busker he met other musicians who were intent on creating an eclectic and world friendly rock sound, and Carlos Santana Blues Band was born. Inspired by jazz fusion, funk, psychedelic rock, blues rock and of course Latin music, the group shortened its name to Santana and first came to public attention after a performance at the now iconic Woodstock Festival of 1969. Since the release of its eponymous debut album the same year, Santana has released over 20 albums in the last few decade including 2012's Shape Shifter, solidifying Carlos Santana's reputation as one of Latin rock's most renowned figures.

Amarillo, Texas born country singer Aaron Watson had aspirations of becoming a baseball player before deciding to switch gears and focus on music during junior college. He found inspiration from old gospel records and the work of outlaw country artists such as Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. The results his career has yielded thus far, however, would fit more comfortably in the pop-country genre, with polished and catchy songs full of the kind of nostalgic and lovesick lyrics modern country fans go nuts for.

San Antonio four-piece Two Tons of Steel has been performing since 1990 and, very fittingly for a country band, takes its name from front man Kevin Geil's 1956 hardtop Cadillac. Two Tons of Steal is constantly voted San Antonio's best country band year after year by its hometown weekly; it's featured in a documentary that plays everyday at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame and the group even toured throughout Europe, gaining a decent sized fan base along the way - an unusual feat for a country band. The group continues to be one of America's most popular country acts, selling out venues nationwide.

San Diego band Tribal Seeds is one of large contingent of California-based bands devoted to the continued proliferation of Jamaica's greatest gift to the music world, reggae. Combining live instrumentation with electronic components, Tribal Seeds draw on ska, as well as a more recent strain of UK dance music called dubstep. As is the case with even the earliest Jamaican reggae music, bass is one of the foremost draws of reggae music and its major influence on today's electronic music. The Tribal Seeds have built themselves an intimate, loyal following upon these weighty bass foundations, and tour extensively as a result.
