On Armed Forces Day, the third Saturday in May, the Beach to Bay Relay takes off in Corpus Christi. This marathon event is the largest relay race in the United States, with a yearly limit of 1200 teams. The race has been going for over 30 years, and benefits local charities with proceeds from corporate sponsors and team entry fees. The entry fee is USD175 per team, USD255 for late entries.
