This camp site is open all year long and extends over 374 acres of beautiful coastline. Electric and water hook ups are available along with a nearby dump station and showers. This is one of the few places where it is permitted to camp on the beach. Perfect for a family vacation or for a romantic refuge.
Situated on North Padre Island, the Padre Island National Seashore is known for its pristine beaches, dunes, sea turtles, endangered species and migratory birds. This seashore divides the Gulf of Mexico from the Laguna Madre and has a few hypersaline lagoons which are very rare in the world. The primitive wilderness of this seashore takes you through a different realm altogether. The National Seashore opened its doors in 1962. It is one of the few nesting places of the Kemp's Ridley sea turtles and is a bird watcher's paradise with 380 varieties of birds making their home here and thousands of migratory birds can be found on its freshwater ponds and lagoons.
Open to the public since 1979, the park features five miles of clean beaches that are great for swimming, kayaking and fishing. The parks name comes from the mustang horses that the Spaniards brought over when the land was first settled, many years ago. Today it is a very popular state park with numerous activities. Besides water sports; hiking, mountain biking, bird watching and sunbathing make this place a popular picnic spot. There is a fee to enter the park and visitors are expected to abide by the park's rules. Call for further details.
The largest undeveloped barrier island in the United States, this 70 mile long park is open year round for swimming, hiking, fishing, surfing, camping, and beachcombing. A convenience store, an exhibit and information center, and a boat launch are also on site. $10 per vehicle, good for a week, or $20 for an annual pass. Discounts are available for senior citizens.
One of the largest marine fish hatcheries in the world, visitors to this center will see red drum and spotted seatrout in a 3,000 gallon saltwater spawning tank. Reservations are required.
Located just off South Padre Island Drive, Funtrackers Family Fun Center is the go-to place for family fun. Enjoy a game of miniature golf, ride the bumper boats, play in the enormous arcade hall, or drive your go kart to victory. With a lot of different tracks, the go karts cater to people of all ages. This small Southern Texas amusement park is great for birthday parties and other festivities. The staff is exceptionally friendly and keep the park in clean and neat condition. The South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center aims to educate the public about the flora and fauna of south Texas by creating and maintaining a beautiful garden and making conservation a top priority. This dynamic 180 acre site along Oso Creek showcases colorful, exotic floral exhibits blended with vast areas of conserved native habitat and natural wetlands. Major floral exhibits include the Orchid House, Exhibit House, Plumeria collection, Hibiscus Garden, Sensory Garden, Hummingbird Garden, Arid Garden, and Rose Garden. A " Walk on the wild side" features the shaded Bird and Buterfly Trail, Birding Tower, Palapa Grande on Gator Lake, plus Wetlands Awareness Boardwalk. Visitors Center includes the Garden Shoppe and Meetingroom / Gallery.
Perfect for family night out, Saratoga lanes is always a favorite with the kids. Bowling leagues for children and adults are forming all the time; these are a great opportunity to make some new friends. Look out for food and drink specials at the snack bar. If you are lucky enough, you may be able to visit during extreme bowling night; the lights dim, disco ball is hung and the music is cranked up for fun bowling activities.
A spectacular view of Corpus Christi Bay is featured at this sprawling 43 acre park that includes a lighted fishing pier, a large children's playground, open and shaded picnic tables, and an amphitheater that provides free outdoor concerts on Thursday and Sunday evenings throughout the summer.
Located just steps away from the ocean in a harmonious little patch of greenery known as Cole Park, the Cole Park Amphitheater hosts a variety of events. With its proximity to the beach and wonderful natural setting the amphitheater is the ideal spot for concerts on warm summer nights. Especially popular are the city-sponsored, free Summer Series concerts. For over 20 years, a variety of musical acts have performed here from all types of music genres including pop, rock, jazz, salsa and even reggae. Also at the amphitheater, you will find a series of films showcased after sunset.
A patch of green located overlooking the beautiful waters of Emerald Cove, McCaughan Park is a popular community park in the city. One of the several parks maintained by the city's Parks & Recreation Department, the McCaughan Park is a nice place for a stroll or a run, or just an outing with your family.
